Restylane® in Houston, Texas
For many of our clients, Restylane® is their
first choice for wrinkle correction. Restylane® is a safe and
natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness
to the skin and is an ideal option for treating moderate to severe
wrinkles and around the mouth and lips and around the eyes. The
treatment is quick and convenient, the effect is completely natural,
and the results last up to six months or more which makes it extremely
cost-effective.

If you want a simple and long-lasting way to achieve a more youthful
and more vibrant appearance, Restylane® injections may be right
for you.

wrinkle correction options?
• Do you have “before and after”
Restylane® comparisons?
Restylane® is a clear, non-animal dermal
filler derived from hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in
the body that creates volume and firmness in the skin. When injected
under the surface of the skin, Restylane® replaces the fullness
that has been lost over time, eliminating wrinkles and restoring
the youthful contour of the face almost immediately.

Restylane® was approved by the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) in 2003 and has been used successfully by dermatologists
and plastic surgeons worldwide for ten years. Because Restylane®
is a fully biodegradable and biocompatible gel based on a natural
substance, there is little or no risk of allergic reactions that
can sometimes occur as a result of treatments that utilize animal-derived
fillers. Therefore, no pre-testing is required. In addition, as
Restylane® breaks down it becomes water and carbon dioxide and
can be safely absorbed and eliminated by the body, leaving no trace
behind.
Although no problems or side effects have been reported, Restylane®
is not recommended for women who are pregnant.

The length of the treatment depends on how many
areas you would like to have treated and how many applications of
Restylane® they require to be treated effectively. In general,
Restylane® treatments range from 30 minutes to an hour and can
be easily scheduled between other appointments or on your lunch
hour.

Because Restylane® is a fully biodegradable
and biocompatible gel based on a natural substance, there is little
or no risk of allergic reactions. Some clients report redness, tenderness,
minimal swelling, and an itching sensation around the treated areas.
Slight bruising can occur with Restylane® treatments. Any discomfort
you experience following treatment should disappear within 24 hours
but can last for a few days. Until any temporary discomfort ends,
it is best to avoid excessive sun and UV lamp exposure.

Our clients find Restylane® a very appealing
option for wrinkle correction and aesthetic enhancement because
the results typically last for six months or more. Restylane®
helps to restore and maintain the volume and shape of the skin by
using the body's own moisture. As the hyaluronic acid gradually
breaks down and diminishes, the molecules bind to more water. Over
time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid,
which is a key to providing the long-lasting results that most clients
experience.

One of the questions we are asked most often about
Restylane® is how it compares to the other wrinkle correction
treatments such as BOTOX®
Cosmetic and Collagen Replacement Therapy. Unlike Restylane®
which adds volume to the skin by replacing a naturally occurring
substance that diminishes as we age to restore volume and shape,
BOTOX® Cosmetic targets the muscles below the surface of the
skin and relaxes them so that the skin lies more smoothly. As a
result, BOTOX® Cosmetic is often more appropriate for the treatment
of fine lines and wrinkles while Restylane® acts as a filler
below the skin to restore the natural fullness that has been lost
over time and can more successfully treat deep wrinkles and furrows.
Restylane® and Collagen Replacement Therapy are both dermal
fillers that replace substances that naturally occur in the human
body. Collagen is a natural protein found throughout the body that
creates a web or network of fibers to support the shape and elasticity
of the skin. Over time, like hyaluronic acid, wear and age diminish
the amount of collagen supporting the skin causing lines, wrinkles,
and reduced volume.
The most significant difference between Restylane® and Collagen
Replacement Therapy is that many of the collagen products available
today are derived from animal-based proteins and carry with them
a risk of allergic reaction. As a result, a simple pre-testing procedure
is required before Collagen Replacement Therapy can begin. At Persona,
Restylane®’s results have been so favorable that we no
longer offer Collagen Replacement Therapy for facial lines and wrinkles.
Although each treatment option has its own unique benefits, many
of our clients have found Restylane® to be longer-lasting and
more economical in the long-term. Schedule a complimentary consultation
at Persona today and we will help you decide which treatment option
is right for you.
